Southend Fund Awards Evening Launches Mayor's Charity

Southend Vineyard receive their grant award certificate from the Mayor and the Fund's Founder Howard BriggsThe Southend Fund is delighted that Mayor David Norman has chosen to work with the Fund for his Mayoral Year. The Southend Fund committee will organise the Mayor's fundraising events and will also be a major beneficiary along with SAFE and Combat Stress (see below).

Mayor Norman also kindly agreed to present the award certificates at the recent Southend Fund Awards evening. This year seven organisations have received grants totalling £24,256 covering diverse issues such as Homelessness, Social exclusion, Disability and Youth Arts.

The attendees at the awards evening were also stunned and delighted when the hosts, Olympus Keymed, presented a very generous cheque for £10,000 to launch the fundraising year.

Combat Stress

Combat Stress is the UK's leading military charity specialising in the care of Veterans' mental health.

They look after men and women who are suffering from a psychological condition related to their Service career. This might be depression, anxiety, a phobia or PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). their services are free of charge to the Veteran.
